When I Worked For A Product I Use

I was today years old when I learnt I am invested in a company that gave me my first menstrual cup.

It is quite common to have no clue about alternatives of menstrual and intimate hygiene needs. Grandmothers recommend cotton cloths, and mothers buy you packets of advertised commercial female diapers. And I believed — pads were the only solution to the painful flow each month.

I remember my best friend was the first in the lot to menarche. She would recount how difficult it became to remove or hide stains, and carry a pad in a bag, which could be checked by prefects in school. We were in a co-ed school.

A year on, when our cousin stayed with us, I learnt that Tampons are an alternative to the period flow. They were interesting yet scary- I knew I could not use them, and my mother won’t switch to them either.

When I entered college, I came across the concept of menstrual cups. I was always up for environmental sustainability, and immediately switched to them.

I remember going on Amazon.com, and typing the keywords. I purchased the cup, just read the instructions and destroyed the box so that my mother won’t make 44 out of the 2–2 information provided!

I would use a silken pouch to store the cleaned product, and feel it very easy to use and of good quality. It was the least pricey, and I did not read the company name or detail, so I assumed it was a low-cost Chinese product! But it actually worked well.

This year, I came in touch with an ambassador program for Sirona Hygiene. When it comes to work, I have to research before pitching myself to a task. The company had well-researched products, highly innovative and very cost-effective. I slowly started completing the tasks meted to me, and read more and more about them.

Today, when I was reviewing products for the company on my Amazon account, I typed in the menstrual cup keywords and found that my menstrual cup is from Sirona! I became all the more energised to promote the great work of this company.

I am a proud Sironite, one who has tested waters and speaks on valid grounds, and my stint with this company is nothing less than service to my woman creed. By letting them know about a great range of alternatives for menstrual hygiene, I am gifting them the knowledge of comfort.

And more than that, if they choose to buy the products that suit their needs, they will contribute to a social initiative called AAAN. This organisation uses the part of product proceedings from Sirona Hygiene to contribute to the menstrual and sexual health of sex and trafficked workers.

PeeBuddy, their innovative stand and pee device, saves girls and women from the unwanted UTIs.

I am more than elated, to be at a stage when I can take up the role of an ambassadress for a company that changed the meaning of menstruation for me.
